Committed to Preserving and Protecting Bedford
Open space. Breathtaking views. Beautiful reservoirs, streams, rivers and ponds. Miles of dirt roads and horse trails. There are few places anywhere in the United States quite like Bedford. But without sensible protections against sprawl and indiscriminate development, the unique qualities that make Bedford so special may soon be the most threatened. It’s essential that we take the steps necessary to preserve and protect the Bedford we cherish. The Bedford Democratic Team will work to provide the leadership to do just that.
An important step will be to do more to implement the Town Master Plan, to work to strengthen Bedford's historic preservation law, and to support the Open Space Initiatives. We must work together to protect the Bedford we cherish.
Committed to Seeking Workable Solutions to Our Water and Sewer Challenges
There’s no getting around it, right now Bedford is facing a potential crisis. Thousand of residents have no reliable source for clean water, as the wells in the Town’s districts become more polluted. In addition, aging septic systems are contributing to the growing pollution of our underground water table. Solutions for these complex problem will require not only investments in infrastructure but also a keen understanding of the issues and the pro-active leadership necessary to work in cooperation with the City of New York, Westchester County, and the state and federal governments. The Bedford Democratic Team will work with federal, state and county officials of both parties to help secure the funds and the approvals necessary to solve these problems.
Committed to Prudent Fiscal Management
The Bedford Democratic Team is committed to holding down taxes and stemming the growth in user fees. They will closely examine contracts, budget proposals and all Town expenditures to insure that taxes are kept as low as possible. They are committed to the strict oversight needed to ensure that the town is signing sensible contracts and enacting prudent budgets.
